Bruce Donald Soule

Bruce D. Soule was born June 29, 1946 and he passed away October 23, 2023 Bruce was the son of Edmund (deceased) and Bernice Soule (Ohio). He was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Toledo Ohio. He attended the University of Dayton earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. While there he met his wife and best friend, Gerry in 1965. They married in 1968 and stayed in the Dayton area until 1974 when a job opportunity moved the family to Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was a Certified Public Accountant for over 50 years, first in Dayton, Ohio then in Fort Lauderdale and finally in Tallahassee. He was a man always greatly respected for his dedicated service, integrity and dependability. His pride and joy were his 3 children and 6 grandchildren. As busy as he would get in his business, (especially during tax season) he always made time for them. He regularly took them to Indian Guides and Indian Princess Camp, founded Boy Scout Pack 519 at his church in Fort Lauderdale and served as Scoutmaster. He taught his children well by example. He was a good provider, caring father, community leader, and consummate professional. As a family they traveled cross-country twice in a camper seeing the USA. Bruce always said he didn’t want to go to Europe until he saw all of the United States. When his children grew and married he delighted in them and his grandchildren. He enjoyed family get-togethers and family vacations and recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of taking a family trip to Alaska. His other hobbies were bowling and enjoying a round of golf with his Silver Buzzards buddies at Golden Eagle Country Club. Being a true numbers man one of his pastimes included iPad searching for stock market reports, for scores and stats of his favorite teams; the Miami Dolphins and the family college football teams. Bruce is survived by Gerry, his wife of 55 years, son Brian (Christine), daughters Michelle Haney (Bob) and Juliette Lawton (Frank). His six grandchildren include Andrew and Michael Soule, Melissa and Rebecca Haney and Katie and Joey Lawton. He is step-grandfather to Aaron Haney. He is also survived by sisters Marty Bassett (Mark), Diane Wells (Mike), Laura Fulop (Joe), Mary Ann Weiler (Mark) and Linda Ryan (Mike) as well as brother-in-law Roy Streetz. Numerous nieces and nephews call him Uncle. Visitation at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Rd. will be Sunday, October 29 12:00-2:30. Funeral Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 4665 Thomasville Road will be on Monday, October 30 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
