Joyce Floride (Jones) Bramblett

Mrs. Joyce Jones Bramblett, 89 years of age, native of Tallahassee, FL, passed away at home early Wednesday morning, June 24th, 2020. Cherishing her love and legacy are her daughter Cynthia A. Bramblett and son William J. Bramblett, III, along with daughter-in-law Karen Bramblett, and two grandchildren, Katie Paulson (and husband Neil) and Paige Bramblett, both of Charleston, SC, and a host of other relatives and friends. Joyce completed her early education in the public schools of Tallahassee and attended FSU for two years before transferring to the University of Texas, where she met her future husband, William J. “Bill” Bramblett, Jr., who, as fate would have it, turned out to be her Sorority Big Sister’s 2nd cousin. After leaving school before their senior year to get married, her husband Bill joined and served for 5 years in the U.S. Air Force and was later promoted to Lieutenant. Then, 3 months before he was scheduled to leave the service and return to college to finish his Geology degree, he passed unexpectedly from a sudden illness. After being widowed at 26, Joyce returned to Tallahassee where she raised her 2 children, while participating in the Junior League and served as mentor for her beloved Alpha Gamma Delta college sorority. Joyce later went back to school and graduated as a computer programmer, blazing the trail with other strong women in this field. She enjoyed a long career with the state, where she worked her way up until she retired as a System Project Administrator for the Department of General Services. Joyce enjoyed playing bridge, was a die-hard Florida State Seminoles fan, and deeply loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. In fact, she was known for keeping up with all her friends, from her childhood, college & Alpha Gam sorority years, to the friends she made through her husband’s military service, in the local community, Junior League, at work and bridge groups. Joyce’s fun-loving spirit, great sense of humor and pursuit of all things related to friends and family will be missed by all who knew her. Family and friends lost a true friend and champion when Joyce departed. She lived her life as the most outgoing, caring, considerate mother and loyal friend anyone could have. She was truly one of a kind. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Bevis Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Bevis Chapel, burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements.
