Lorna Jean Cairns

Lorna Jean Cairns (nee Clark), 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born on May 3, 1938 in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada to Archibald Bazil and Margaret Phoebe Clark (nee Black). Lorna grew up in Brownsburg, Quebec. She graduated from Lachute High School in 1955. After graduating high school, she attended Macdonald College in Montreal, Quebec where she received a certificate in education. Lorna taught in Rosmere, Buckingham, Brownsburg, and Lachute for a total of 11 years. Lorna married Malcom Cairns in 1961 in Brownsburg, Quebec. They were happily married for 59 years spending time between their homes in Tallahassee, Florida and Dunany, Quebec. Lorna loved curling, was an avid bridge player, loved Florida State University sports, and cherished her family including the four-legged members. Her fondest memories include spending time at the lake in Dunany with family and friends. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents Bazil and Margaret Clark (nee Black), her sister Joan MacTavish (nee Clark), her in-laws Robert and Pearl Cairns (nee Gardiner), brother in-laws Bruce and Clifford Cairns, and sister in-law Linda Cairns (nee Hoeg). Lorna is survived by her spouse Malcom Robert Cairns of Tallahassee, Florida; her daughters Laurie Cairns Radney (Rick), Heather Lynn Cairns, and Barbara Joan Cairns of Tallahassee, Florida; her brother George Clark (Roz) of Brownsburg/Chatham, her grandson Alexander Clark Cairns of Tallahassee, Florida; her brother in-laws Ron Cairns of Kingston, Ontario and Ian Cairns (Gwen) of Ottawa, Ontario; her sister in-law Anne Cairns of Markham, Ontario and many cherished nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32303 at 11 o’clock on March 27, 2021. A visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service at 10 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee, Florida.
