Michael E. McNeill

Mike McNeill a resident of Tallahassee, FL died on August 8, 2024, after a brief illness at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was 73 years old. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday August 13, 2024, with visitation at 1:00 pm Eastern time. Service will be in the sanctuary at Bevis Funeral Home located at 200 John Knox Road Tallahassee, FL 32303 at 2:00 pm Eastern time. Following the service we will proceed to Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, FL for burial. Mike will be buried by his parents, W. B. McNeill & Dollie Ingram McNeill. Mike was born and raised in Quincy, Florida. He attended Quincy High School and graduated in 1968, the last graduating class before it became Shanks High School. He moved to Tallahassee, FL and attended Tallahassee Community college. Mike went on to work for McNeill Septic Tank Co. Owned by his brother W. B. McNeill “Sonny”. After working there for many years, he and his wife Renee C. McNeill bought the business and ran it together starting on October 1, 1980, until July 2022. He retired to enjoy life with his family. Mike and Renee went to the Coates family farm in Abbeville, AL as often as possible to take Kristal and Landon out on Lake Eufaula to water ski & enjoy the lake. He spent many days fishing in the ponds that Renee’s father Pete Coates created in Screamer Alabama. He loved to fish and taught his grandchildren Brandon Hawkes & Morgan Hawkes how to put a worm on the hook and he enjoyed every minute of it. His grandchildren were a bright spot in his life. He enjoyed eating at Martha Coates house, his mother-in-law. He had so many great meals on holidays, fish fries and barbecues at various family members’ homes. He loved spending time on the farm with everybody, you never knew who might show up. Mike and Renee McNeill were married for 45 years, and he was her soul mate. Mike was the best husband, father, and grandfather anyone could ever have. We were so blessed to have him. Mike is survived by his loving wife Renee Coates McNeill. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their children Kristal McNeill Hawkes (Kenneth Hawkes) of Tallahassee, FL, Michael Landon McNeill, of Abbeville, AL as well as three grandchildren, Brandon Lee Hawkes, Morgan Olivia Hawkes, and Michael William McNeill. He is also survived by his brother W.B. McNeill “Sonny” (Mary Nogel McNeill), of Starke, FL and his sister Patricia Smith of Quincy, FL. and Eclectic, AL., along with several niece and nephews.
