Milton "Bruce" Edwards

Milton “Bruce” Edwards, 74, passed away March 6, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. A native of Jacksonville, Bruce was a longtime resident of Tallahassee and 1967 graduate of Leon High School. Bruce was drafted immediately after his high school graduation into the Vietnam War. He was a United States Navy veteran and served on the USSSNOA. He started his career at Tallahassee Lumber Company and later began to build homes. He worked for Sherwin Williams for many years, and recently retired from Brian Barnard Flooring. Bruce worked in many fields revolving around the construction industry. Bruce shared a fairy tale love with his wife of 32 years, Jackie Johnson Edwards. They shared a love most can only dream of having. Jackie was Bruce’s soul mate. Bruce was always smiling and had an amazing sense of humor. His smile and positive outlook will never be forgotten. He loved everyone and touched many hearts. Bruce was the “grill master” and enjoyed cooking poolside. He could often be found spending time with his wife and friends on Lake Talquin on his pontoon boat, “Hour Therapy” relaxing, spending quality time, and fishing. Bruce and Jackie loved their therapeutic time on the boat. Bruce is survived by his wife, Jackie Johnson Edwards of Tallahassee and son, Clinton Bruce Edwards and wife, Tammy Edwards of Crawfordville. Bruce also is survived by host of brothers in laws and sister in laws as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Bruce also leaves behind many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Minnie Edwards and brothers, David and Donald Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road. The funeral will be at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway. Immediately following services, the family will be hosting a celebration of Bruce’s life at the Tallahassee Garden Club, 507 N. Calhoun Street. A potluck style dinner will be served and the family requests that friends and family come share memories and gather in his honor. The family wishes to extend thanks to Big Bend Hospice and Serenity Home Care of Tallahassee. The family would also like to extend thanks to all the family and friends for the continued support during this time. Bruce will forever remain in our thoughts, memories, and hearts.
