Betty Lee Alday Fillingim

Betty Lee Alday Fillingim, 90 of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on June 21, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born August 1, 1930 in Bainbridge, Georgia and soon moved to Sarasota where she attended school. She lived in Tallahassee since 1962 but Sarasota was always home and where she met and married her handsome husband. God called her home on what would have been their 71st anniversary. Betty was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Among her gifts of services were ministering to those in nursing homes, home bound and through the church hospitality committee serving meals to bereaved families and other ministries. Her most important calling and job was that of motherhood, from which she never retired. During her time of working outside the home she worked at Sears, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Rickards High School, and retired from Gayfers/Dillards. She is survived by her children Ronnie (Rochelle) Fillingim, Rickie Fillingim, Linda (Mike) Fagan, and Rustie (Mary) Fillingim all of Tallahassee. Grandchildren are Brandi (David) Rich, Sanford, NC, Kristopher (Anita) Fagan, Noosa Queensland Australia, Jeremy (Jennifer) Fagan, Tallahassee, FL, Robby Fagan, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Joey Fillingim, Crawfordville, FL, Jeffrey (Scottie) Fillingim, Jessica (Daniel) Jeffers, and Hunter Fillingim, Tallahassee. Great grandchildren are Abigail and Jacob Rich, Hannah and Austin Fagan, Aubrie Grace, Jackson, Peyton, Blakely, Mary Alice, and Charlotte Lee Fillingim, Samantha, Blake and Kannon Jeffers. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Effie Alday, husband of 61 years Herman Fillingim, twin brother, Bobby Alday, and grandson Jason Fagan. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 24th at 10:00 with service following at 11:00 at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32303. Interment immediately following service at Meadow Wood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL. The service will be available to view live online at https://www.bevisfh.com.
