It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of Brent William Rogers on August 27, 2025. Brent was born on June 24, 1985, in Baltimore, MD. Though his time with us was brief, his enduring spirit, kindness, and the beautiful memories he created will forever inspire and uplift everyone he touched. Brent is survived by his Dad, Bill Rogers; his Mom, Sue Wiser Rogers; his brother, Shawn Rogers; his sister-in-law, Maggie Rogers; his fiancé, Kathryn "Kate" Cahoon; his future son, Zach; and his beloved dog, Daisy. He is also survived by his Uncle Jim Van Horn, his cherished cousins Roger, Tom, Sarah, Mia, Chase, and Asher Van Horn, along with many other beloved second cousins. Brent's legacy continues through the love and memories shared with family and the rest of those lucky enough to have met him. His memories continue to inspire everyone around him, reminding us of the importance of family bonds and the enduring strength of love. In Brent's early years, he loved spending time outdoors, excelled at baseball, and showed leadership through Boy Scouts. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout at just 16, he demonstrated dedication and perseverance, inspiring others to follow their passions and aim for greatness. Brent became fascinated with law enforcement after watching early reality TV shows like "Cops" and "LivePD" as well as participating in ride-alongs with the Police Explorers, which ignited his interest in a career in law enforcement. After graduating from Saline High School in Saline, MI, in 2003, Brent attended Franklin Pierce College, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice after spending time in the automotive service industry. Brent began his career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a civilian nuclear reactor mechanic. In January of 2023, Brent said goodbye to the snowy mountains of New Hampshire and moved to warm and sunny Florida. Brent's mission trip to Honduras was truly inspiring. He dedicated himself to building a house, connected with gang members through games of soccer, and showed kindness by cooking for them. His actions exemplify compassion, community, and the power of giving. In December of 2023, he reached a significant milestone by graduating from the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy, demonstrating his determination and dedication. After graduation, he embraced a new path to make a difference, dedicating himself to his community by serving with honor at the Longwood, FL Police Department. Most recently, he received a job offer to join the Orange City, FL, Police Department, a testament to his dedication and immense potential. Before moving to Florida, Brent was a member of Grace Baptist Church in New Hampshire. After he arrived in Tallahassee, he joined Celebration Baptist Church and actively served on the Security Team, showing his dedication to public safety. Brent was dearly loved by many, and his boundless compassion for others was remarkable. His kindness continues to inspire everyone around him. Throughout his life, he loved animals; there wasn't a dog he didn't try to become friends with. Join us in honoring Brent's vibrant life on Saturday, September 20, at 11 AM at Celebration Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL. Celebrate his memory with us, and feel free to wear orange, Brent's favorite color, to brighten the day. A reception will follow to continue sharing stories and memories.
