Charlina Pierce Brown

Charlina Pierce Brown peacefully passed from this life to be with our Lord on September 20, 2016, at the age of 81. Charlina and her parents, Charlton and Ina Pierce, moved to Tallahassee from southern Ohio when Charlina was a young child. She was a proud graduate of Leon High School. After completing her Bachelors Degree at Florida State, she moved to Forsyth, Georgia to teach at Tift College, where she met her future husband, Tom Brown. After spending some time in Florida, she and Tom relocated to Texas to start a family. While raising two daughters, Charlina earned Masters and Doctorate degrees in Early Childhood Education from Texas Woman's University. In her spare time, she created a small catering business that fed her love for cooking, baking and entertaining. Charlina and her daughters returned to Tallahassee in 1981. Charlina avidly supported the Florida State Seminoles and loved all sports. Rarely did she miss a home game and for numerous years followed the Noles on the road. Equally important to her was the value she placed on education and the Arts, as she taught at both the elementary and college levels. Her daughters have fond memories of singing at the piano with their mother, who played by ear. Charlina was passionate about politics: you never had to wonder where she stood on political issues! Charlina loved people! She thoroughly enjoyed planning events for the Leon Class of 1953 and Kate Sullivan teacher reunions. She fulfilled her dream of building a home and living on the family property on Lake Hall. She truly loved the lake. One of her favorite pastimes was taking photos of nature and wildlife and sharing them with her grandsons. Charlina is survived by her daughters, Heather Peeples (Winn) of Tallahassee, Stacia Daniel (Todd), of Helena, Alabama, grandson Jordan Peeples (Ashley) of Tallahassee, two beloved grandsons, and a great granddaughter. Charlina's wishes for her body to be cremated will be carried out by Bevis Funeral Home. Charlina believed in giving; instead of flowers, please consider a contribution to a charity in her honor. Friends of Charlina are invited to join the family at the Peeples home at 6049 Miller Landing Cove on Friday, between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m., to gather together, share memories of Charlina, and celebrate her life.
