David Michael Fleck

David Fleck, 64, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. David was born on April 28, 1962, in Springfield, Illinois, and lived a life marked by faith, strength, hard work, and devotion to those he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose steady presence and generous heart touched countless lives. Above all else, David loved his family. He took great pride in the people he loved and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. Whether sharing stories, offering wisdom, lending a helping hand, or simply being present, David made those around him feel valued and cared for. David’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. Even during his courageous battle with glioblastoma, he demonstrated remarkable perseverance, grace, and trust in God. His journey was marked not only by strength but also by the unwavering support of family, friends, caregivers, and a community that surrounded him with love and prayer. Those who knew David will remember his kindness, his sense of humor, his determination, and his ability to make others feel welcome. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he impacted, and the memories his family will carry forever. David is survived by his beloved wife, Gerrie; his children: Chad (Chelsea) and Matthew (Jennifer); his grandchildren: Kennedy, Sutton, Luke, Charlotte, and Phoebe; his siblings: Julius (Georgia), Susan (Floyd), Theresa, Mark (Julia), Patricia (Sam), Linda (Larry), Denise (Albert), Kathy (Mike), Matthew (Lisa), Marla (Jim), Chris (Pam) Mary, Michael (Charla), Joanne (Steve); and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his loving parents: Julius Charles Fleck and Lillian Bernice Fleck; his nephew, Ethan Huner; and his brother-in-law, Terry Yakle. While our hearts are broken by his loss, we take comfort in knowing that David is healed, whole, and at peace in the presence of his Savior. We rejoice in the promise that this is not "goodbye" but “until we meet again.” Family and friends are invited to join us for visitation on Thursday, June 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home on John Knox Road.
