David Bowen Griffith

David Griffith, 65, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away Monday September 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and welcomed home by his Heavenly Father. David was born January 26, 1957 to Lloyd and Lois Griffith of Tallahassee, FL. He met and married the love of his life, Karen Huntley, whom he treasured. David attended Leon High School, where he discovered his love for music which led him to participate in the Southern Churchmen Quartet at East Hill Baptist Church among many other music groups throughout his life. He then went on to Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. He recently retired from the State of Florida after 35 years of service. David loved people and had a gift for helping others. He served in the United States Coast Guard for a brief time until he was medically discharged. He continued serving his community by volunteering with the State of Florida Emergency Operations Center, Hurricane Relief, and the Citizens Police Academy at the Tallahassee Police Department. Above all, David loved the Lord and his family. His children and grandchildren will treasure their memories of time spent boating and fishing with him, having him as a softball coach in their younger years, chorus concerts, sporting events, and school programs that he was certain to attend in support of them. He especially enjoyed gathering and celebrating with his family and looked forward to the annual trips he and Karen planned to bring them all together. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen; four children, Brandon Griffith (Sarah), Aaron Griffith (Brittany), Amanda Winter (Ryan), and Natalie Toothman (Walker); two grandchildren, Savannah and Summer and one soon to be grandchild (Toothman). He also leaves behind older brother, Lloyd Griffith Jr. (Frankie), sister, Sarah Griffith, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He taught his children the value of hard work, the power of an apology, and to have a passion for living. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 24th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL.
