Donna Elizabeth Hayes

Donna Elizabeth Hayes, 78, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on September 11, 2017 after suffering with Alzheimer’s for several years. She is survived by: her brother Charles H. Pugh, Jr. (and wife Jean) and sister-in-law Mary Pugh; sons, Reggie Bouthillier (and wife Michelle), Joe Bouthillier (and wife Tammy), and Jeff Bouthillier (and wife Jessica); grandchildren Brittny, Krysten, Tyler, Katelyn, Hudson, Sydney, Lisette, and Luc; and niece and nephews Danny, Jane, Tom, David, Tim, Patrick, and Dale. Donna was born on September 14, 1938 to Charles H. Pugh, Sr. and Betty Pugh in Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas B. Hayes, and her brother, Francis L. Pugh. Prior to moving to Tallahassee in 2000 to live closer to her sons and their families, Donna lived almost 30 years in Largo, Florida where she raised her sons and had many friends. While raising her three boys she worked full-time and successfully obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in English from University of South Florida. Donna’s life was centered in her devotion to God and commitment to family. She was passionate about her faith, nutrition, fitness/sports (walking, biking, golf, tennis, baseball, ping pong) and politics. Her focus was on the God-given gifts we have been given – the simple things in life – relationships and all the natural beauty the world offers. She was always involved in her church and gave to the organizations she believed would advance God’s mission to help others. Donna was a beautiful and loving person, tenacious in her beliefs, and carried tremendous zeal for life and the people around her. Donna’s life will be celebrated this Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 4665 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32309. A reception will be held after mass at the Good Shepherd Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting gifts be made in Donna’s memory to either: 1) The Alzheimer’s Project, 301 East Tharpe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303, which exists to provide comfort, support, and assistance to persons with memory disorders and their caregivers in Tallahassee and the surrounding region; or (2) Father Remmy Lesa’s Catholic Mission in Zambia, Africa to provide support for the basic needs of many in that community - checks should be made payable to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with the following notation: “For Father Remmy in Memory of Donna Hayes.” Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements.
