Edward Hill Carraway

Edward Hill Carraway passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on August 19, 2023, after a three-year battle with glioblastoma. Born and raised in Tallahassee, Edward loved his hometown and cherished the deep roots established by his family over the years. One of his greatest joys was being on the surrounding waters with his wife and children. He was an avid cyclist and found peace and strength on his rides. He had the most gentle, kind, compassionate and generous heart and was universally loved. His nonjudgmental, forgiving attitude will forever be an inspiration to all that knew him. Edward was a retired FMB/The First banking executive. Giving back to the communities he loved was a part of who he was. His acts of servitude included being a Community Volunteer Leader for American Red Cross, member of Leadership Tallahassee Class 35, Leon County Sheriff’s Academy graduate, Past Chair and member of the Monticello Rotary Club, and Board member of the Monticello Opera House. Edward is survived by his wife Sharon Council Carraway, son F. Wilson (Will) Carraway, II, stepdaughters Lauren T. Barlowe (Travis) and Catherine Tyler, grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lynlee, Ryan and Brooks, mother Ann Hill Albritton, stepmother Gayle Walker Carraway, siblings Leigh C. Neilson (Steve Speer), F. Wilson Carraway, III (Jill), Caroline C. Sutton (Yancey), Laura Albritton (Zickie Allgrove), Rachel A. Lunsford (Rob), Kathi C. Taylor (Kevin), step siblings, Terry Singer (Howard), Mike Shumann (Margie), Noel Shumann, David Shumann (Amy), Gregg Shumann and Marti Stirling (David), sister-in-laws Gloria Dowden, Marcia Pearson (Jerry) as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Edward was preceded in death by his father Franklin Wilson Carraway, Jr. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 1st at City Church Tallahassee. In keeping with Edward’s zest for life please come in festive colors to honor him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross or Monticello Opera House, Monticello, FL.
