Elizabeth Joyce Jusko was born on October 3, 1937, in Florence, Alabama, and passed away on April 11, 2026, surrounded by family. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Jusko; her father, Louis Pitary; and her mother, Cordellia Irene Pitary (Easter, d. 1944). She is survived by her two sons, John (Teresa) and Jason (Traci), both of Tallahassee, and her grandchildren, Olivia, Thomas, Johnathon, Jacob, and Nicholas. After the loss of her mother at the age of eight, her aunt, Elizabeth “TT” Russel, provided her with a home and a love for which she remained forever grateful. She attended Georgia State University, where she studied art and was a member of Delta Zeta. Although life interrupted her path to graduation, she was the kind of person who always seemed to know all the answers—especially when it came to Jeopardy. Elizabeth and her husband moved to Tallahassee in the early 1970s and made it their home for the rest of their lives. Together, they built multiple businesses and, most importantly, a strong and loving family. Having both lost their parents early in life, they never took family for granted. Her five grandchildren brought her immense joy and endless laughter. While many may have seen her as a homemaker, she was much more. She was the steady force behind her husband’s ventures—bringing creativity, organization, and thoughtful planning to every endeavor. From a textbook publishing company to entertainment facilities in Tallahassee, she played a central role in their success and was the final decision-maker. She was active in the garden club for many years, earning numerous awards, including multiple “Best of Show” honors. She had a deep love of reading, volunteered in literacy efforts, and enjoyed everything from the classics to a good Stephen King novel. Whether it was tiling a floor, hanging wallpaper, editing publications, or managing accounting, Elizabeth seemed to know how to do it all—long before Google made it easy. Her greatest attribute was her kindness. Exceptionally selfless and rarely critical of others, she had a gift for listening that made everyone feel heard and understood, whether or not a solution was needed. Even through a long illness, her smile continued to brighten every room. As her ability to communicate diminished, she still found ways to express gratitude and reassurance, often saying, “you are good.” Those who loved her will always remember that she was good. The Jusko family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers who provided comfort and compassion during her time of need. They were truly a blessing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice. The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Bevis Funeral Home on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 11:00am - 12:00pm. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery following the visitation at 12:30pm.
