Elizabeth (Libby) Hunt Smith

Elizabeth (Libby) Hunt Smith joined her Heavenly Father on September 6, 2021. She was born in Donalsonville, Georgia on October 9, 1954. Her family relocated to Miccosukee, Florida in 1966. Libby attended Leon High School where she met her husband of 50 years. In 1974, she began work with the Florida Department Insurance where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a wedding coordinator and owner of Enchanted Evenings Inc., a full-service wedding and events business. She was a proud member of White Church in Woodville, Florida. She was a heart transplant recipient in 2017, and as such, an advocate for Donate Life of Florida. Libby often spoke to various schools, religious events, and civic groups about the importance of organ donation. She was proud of her Southern roots and organized and participated in Southern Heritage events. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends and was known for her contagious laugh. Libby’s passion and proudest achievement was that of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. She is survived by her husband Graham F. Smith and two daughters Christina Smith Ard (John) and Sarah Smith Bender (John) of Tallahassee. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Taylor Ard, Chase Ard, and Rachael Bender, a sister Jody Humphries Hughes (James) of Thomasville, Georgia, as well as her mother-in-law, Sara-Lou Smith also of Tallahassee. She was predeceased by her parents Thames (Troy) Hunt and Lou-Ellen Mathews Hester, as well as her father-in-law Ellis R. Smith.
