Forrest Drake Rowland

Forrest “Drake” Rowland passed on February 15, 2021 in Delray Beach, Florida. Drake was born and raised in Tallahassee, attending Trinity Catholic School, and graduating from Leon High School in 2002. A gifted athlete, he stood out in baseball, spending season after season at Levy Park and on travel teams, hitting a home run at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown as a member of the traveling All Stars, and making lifelong friends among his teammates. His love of sports carried over to a passion for physical fitness and a loyal fanaticism to the Miami Dolphins and all things Florida State. Drake’s warm demeanor and delicate charm carried him through a long career in hospitality, where he was loved by his employers and patrons alike, spending many years at Mom & Dad’s and the Silver Slipper in Tallahassee, and HJ O’Connor’s Pub in Delray Beach, FL. He was endearing and sweet, tender and thoughtful, gentle in his mannerisms, and kind to animals and anyone in need; above all, he was genuine, and always there to help. His family and friends will take comfort in the memory of his sweet smile and his beautiful blue eyes, and the faith that he is at peace in the arms of the Lord. Drake is preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Drake and John Williamson, and his aunt Lea, and is survived by his mother Kathy Craig (Jim), his father Forrest Rowland (Denise), his sisters Cara Corry (Walden), and Noel Perry, his nephew Rowland Corry, his niece Luna Caitlin, his grandmothers Janice Williamson (Billy Hayes) and Carolyn Drake, his aunt Barrie Williamson, and his uncles Jim Drake (Becky Gideon) and Bob Drake (Nancy), Joe Rowland (Kara) and Carter Williamson (Laura), his loving partner Shannon Dawson, and cousins, Stephanie, Ryan and Caroline, Tiffany, Colby, Jack, Eva, and Willie, who always looked up to him and will hold him in their hearts forever. Friends and Family members are invited to attend Drake's funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Tallahassee on Sunday, February 28th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Drake’s honor to the Humane Society of the United States or a local animal rescue, or to a charity of your choice.
