Gerald Douglas Henderson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Douglas "Jerry" Henderson, who was called home on August 22, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida, where he had resided for the past 40 years. Jerry was born on November 20, 1937, in Milton, Florida, to Marvin and Ethel Willis Henderson. He graduated from Milton High School and, during his youth, helped his parents operate their family grocery store in Milton. Jerry had a remarkable gift with numbers and devoted much of his life to a career in accounting and public service. He began as a field auditor for the State of Florida, soon to be promoted to senior field auditor, then an area supervisor prior to retiring as an administrator of benefits and payment control. Alongside his brother, Donnie, he co-founded Henderson & Henderson Accounting, further serving the community for many years. Jerry also proudly served his country in the United States Army as well as the National Guard and retired as a First Sergeant. In addition, he was employed under FEMA, further demonstrating his commitment to helping others throughout his professional life. Outside of work, Jerry enjoyed spending time on the golf course and was a faithful member of Bible Believers Fellowship Church. Above all, he cherished his family and especially treasured the 64 years he shared with his beloved wife, Carolyn. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carolyn Iris Henderson; his daughter, Dawn Henderson; grandchildren Brandi (Anthony) Beck and Erica Sackwitz; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Joe (Lisa) Henderson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ethel Henderson; his brother, Donnie Henderson, and his daughter, Robbin Henderson. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at Bible Believers Fellowship Church at a later date. Please continue to check the church website for updated service information. Jerry's legacy of faith, service, dedication, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
