Gina Marie Spooner

Gina Marie Spooner, born February 19, 1958, was granted her angel wings on April 13, 2018. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends, that she had touched in some way throughout her short, yet very memorable life. Gina has resided in Tallahassee, Florida for the last 25 years, but she was very proud of her Texan roots. A native of Beaumont, Texas, Gina lived a very full and adventurous life. It was there that she met her husband, Richard Neal Spooner. The two had 6 children together- Tiffany Spooner, Amanda Spooner, Stephanie(Jessie) Miller, Johnathan Spooner, Austin Spooner and Haley Spooner. She also had 3 step-children- Beverly “Nikki” Godfrey, Sharon(Gus) Beverly & Christina(Wayne) Jacob. Gina loved ANYTHING country music. Her free spirit and brave personality made it impossible for her to stay put if there was any sort of activity going on. Her friends and family still joke about how she would carry her portable radio around and win tickets to any event that she wanted to attend. Up until the final years of her life, you could find her outdoors soaking up some sunshine, listening to music and relaxing. She also loved to cook. She took pride in the fact that her family would gather to eat a meal that she had prepared. Most of her children would call up until her final days to ask how to cook something. She loved this! (I cannot tell you how many times I had her taste test something before I’d put my name on it) One thing for sure is that she loved her home state of Texas, her friends and her family beyond words. Her heart was full. She is survived by her brother Greg Erwin and his spouse Delta, of Austin, Texas. Her 9 children, 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild- all of Tallahassee, Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Spooner, her Mother- Mary Grace Lee, her father- George Erwin Sr., her brother- George Erwin Jr. and her Grandmother- Nannie Barron. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, May 4, 2018. Location will be at Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey Young Chapel in Crawfordville, Florida, 3106 Crawfordville Hwy, Crawfordville, FL 32327. She will be laid to rest in Burkeville, TX at a later date. David Conn of Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey Young Chapel in Crawfordville is assisting the family. **Following the service, the family will be celebrating Gina’s life at one of her favorite places to eat**
