James E. Bolling (Jim), 83, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House. Jim was born November 30, 1940, in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the late James and June Bolling. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joel Bolling. Jim graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1959 and attended the University of Florida. Jim worked in the Tax Assessor’s office in Miami where he met his future love and soulmate Kathy Detrio. They married on February 3, 1962. Jim and Kathy had two children, Susan and Jeff. The family lived in Gainesville, Miami, and Brandon, Florida during the early years of their marriage. Jim later worked for Unijax as a paper salesman. In 1974, Jim was transferred to Tallahassee with the Unijax branch there. He was hired by Mac Papers and continued his career as a paper salesman. He retired from the company in 2005. Jim was an avid golfer playing for many years with the group from the 4th Quarter. He was president of the Tallahassee Quarterback Club. Jim was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose Club. Jim was a huge Gator fan but took Kathy to all the FSU football and basketball games. Their tailgate parties in lot 13 were always a great time. Jim loved his children and attended every speed skating meet, baseball game, and chorus concert. He was always involved in whatever activities his kids were doing. This involvement grew to include his two grandsons and their activities. Every Friday night would find Jim and Kathy at their favorite restaurant, Georgios. It was a standing date for them. Jim and Kathy traveled to Hawaii many times and took the whole family there for their 50th wedding anniversary. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, daughter Susan, son Jeff, son-in-law Dan Wessner, and grandsons Sean and Caden Wessner. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, FL 32308. A memorial service will be held at Bevis Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
