Janice Nalani Tucker

Janice Nalani Tucker was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, May 20, 1966. She was the exclamation point to our Tucker line. From the time she was born until the end, she lived a big life! Everything she did was big, loud, adventurous, interesting, hilarious. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe her! She was selfless and devoted, the perfect partner in crime, the beginning of every party, the Master of Ceremonies, the final song, the perfect idea, the best solution, the answer to your question. She was a fountain of knowledge and information, always with a random, interesting fact to surprise, amaze, annoy and delight you. She was surprised by the fact that her children are the same way. Belonging to a family of singers, she blossomed into the best of us. Not only did she have an award-wining voice, she had the incredible ability of being able to imitate any singer. When you were with her you would be graced with a never ending stream of perfect impression-Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Joni Mitchell, Karen Carpenter, that guy from AC/DC. She could imitate them all. She was devoted to her friends and her job, and became an integral part of the Leon County School Board Code of Enforcement office. She brought so much sunshine and happiness to the hues of all she met and was devoted to the mission. She had a special way of encouraging and lifting others. She spoke fluent Spanish having learned it at Lincoln High School. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bilbao, Spain. She spoke so well the native speakers there thought she was also a native speaker. In the church she served as primary chorister, primary teacher, Sunday school teacher, young women teacher, Relief Society pianist and Relief Society president. Her absence will be felt forever. The brilliant light of her has left a gaping hole, never to be filled, never to be forgotten. She is proceeding in death by her parents, Kit and Nell Tucker. She is survived by her children, Michael S. Dixon and wife Anna Marie Dixon of Omaha, Nebraska, Aaron R. Dixon of Jacksonville, Janelle N. Dixon of Tallahassee, her siblings, L. Christopher Tucker of Arizona, Robert T. Tucker of Crawfordville, Florida, G. Nani Claire of Las Vegas, Nevada, L. Kyle Tucker and Keith Tucker, spouse, of Satellite Beach, Florida, Brett R. Tucker of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Elizabeth K. Tucker of Ochlocknee Bay, Florida, nieces, nephews, and cousins, close friends too numerous to mention. She loved deeply. She will never be forgotten. A Hui Hou, my sister. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2023 at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel, 200 John Knox Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303.
