Jayne Hagan Hazlip

Jayne Hagan Hazlip, 68, passed away on April 4, 2026, in her home in Havana, Florida. She was born on April 21, 1958 in Gainesville, Florida. Her parents were Elwood Lawson Hagan and Martha Fernandez Hagan. Jayne studied music at the University of Florida, was an outstanding singer and was proud to have sung in a Christian group that recorded an album. Her husband, John Kirkland Hazlip, proposed to her on January 19, 1983, and they were married on May 28th that same year. They were married for 43 years when she passed. Jayne participated in clubs and events relating to her many hobbies, such as local homeschooling groups, LOGOS speech and debate club, Young Living Essential Oils, Stampin’ Up, photography and the American Kennel Club. She loved arts and crafts and excelled at cooking. However, one of her favorite hobbies was snorkeling for scallops in St. Joe Bay, which she said brought her great peace. She also raised and bred Retrievers. The first litter of puppies she raised were Labrador Retrievers and later it was Golden Retrievers. She truly loved her Goldens, who slept in her bedroom if not up on the bed. She started the Dusty and Luna Family and Friends Facebook page where she and the adopted puppy owners could proudly post their pictures and videos. Jayne was the most joyous and happy person we have ever known. She found excitement in all of nature and in all God’s creatures. She loved everything that grew in her garden and loved to cultivate flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Her faith in God and her love for His creation was an inspiration to all who knew her. Jayne is survived by her husband John and her sons John (JK) Kirkland Hazlip IV, and Joseph (Joey) Lawson Hazlip. She also has a half-brother Paul “Sonny” Sutton in North Carolina. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 12:30 PM EST at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Rd, Tallahassee FL. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30 PM. Internment will be at a later date at Forest Grove Cemetery, High Springs, Florida. In lieu of flowers please give a memorial donation in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
