Jeffrey B. Murphy, a Tallahassee native, died on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the age of 63. He was born to parents Hugh “Mac” and Virginia Montez Murphy. Jeff was a 1977 graduate of James S. Rickards High School and had recently retired from Tri-Eagle Sales as a Draught Manager, where he enjoyed 16 years of employment. Most encounters with Jeff began with a “What’s up, buddy,” a handshake, and an offer of a cold Natty Light. He never met a stranger in his lifetime. Those who knew Jeff well knew that he was dedicated to baseball and softball as a player and a coach; Alabama football, and Anheuser-Busch, which he worked selling in one form or another for over 30 years. Jeff was close with his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and teaching them the virtues of being an Alabama fan. He was filled with joy watching his grandkids enjoy baseball just as he had as a youth. Jeff was known for his funny recollections of past experiences, whether they were from riding in hotrods, the one time he attempted living out west in the snow, or the ins and outs of selling beer. Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Dama Lynn Murphy; children Travis Tucker (Candice), Caleb Murphy, Brian Tucker (Keely) and Melissa Trotter (Donnie); grandchildren Beau Tucker, Luke Tucker, McKensie Tucker, Hank Olson, Finn Olson and Cash Olson; siblings Lola Murphy, Hugh Murphy, Ronald Murphy, and Kevin Murphy (Cyndy); sisters-in-law Martha Smith, Patricia Whitehead (Jim), Amy Copeland and Nelma Murphy, as well as a host of extended family members and friends. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kennard Murphy. The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Bevis Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. The family asks that if you can do so, to please share a memory of Jeff at the memorial service in honor of his positive spirit and good nature. The family will again be receiving guests for a reception and celebration of Jeff’s life following the service at Bevis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully accept donations.
