Jerry Ancil Hyde

Jerry Ancil Hyde, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2026 at Hospice House in Tallahassee, FL. Jerry was born in Bainbridge, GA on January 14, 1958 to Edwin and Audrey Hyde. Tallahassee became their home when Jerry was 5 years old. He was a member of the Leon High football team and graduated in 1976. Some of his favorite childhood memories were spending summers at St. Teresa with his Leon High friends, fishing, and traveling. He attended Florida State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He soon discovered his passion for building and finished his degree at the University of Florida in building construction. He worked for various construction companies, including Ajax construction company in Tallahassee, before starting his own Meridian Construction Company. He was a master craftsman in his profession and the houses he built are truly a work of art. His true passion was woodworking and he loved building furniture for his children and grandchildren. In 1990, Jerry married Sally Shaw and they had three beautiful children, Sarah Bishop, Sam, and Jack. He was especially involved with his sons’ Boy Scout Troop 109, where he helped both Sam and Jack achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He was recently blessed with two grandchildren, Michael, and Baby Sarah and enjoyed always being on call to babysit. Jerry’s calming presence and ability to fix almost anything will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin B Hyde Sr and Audrey Bishop Hyde. He is survived by his wife Sally, his daughter Sarah Bishop Manning (Ryan), his sons Sampson Shaw Hyde and Jackson Billy Hyde, his two grandchildren: Michael Shaw Manning and Sarah Cawthon Manning, and his brother Edwin B. Hyde Jr. A private family gathering will held at St. Teresa Beach. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Boy Scouts (2032 Thomasville, Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32308 or the Margaret Z.
