John Joseph (Jack) Schardine

John Joseph (Jack) Schardine passed away on October 10, 2025 at Tapestry Senior Living. Services will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, Tallahassee, FL on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00AM. Burial will be at Tallahassee National Cemetery following the service at 2:00 PM. Jack was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 2, 1937. Jack attended school and graduated from Taylor High School. Jack served in the United States Army from 1956-1959. After returning from military service, Jack worked at GMC Truck Sales, Tri-State Engine Services, Clarke GM Diesel and Associated Truck Lines in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1959-1973. Jack moved to Riviera Beach, FL where he became a field mechanic for Florida Diesel from 1973-1975. In 1975, Jack moved to Atlanta, GA to work for Dixie Engine Company as accredited Detroit Diesel Allison Trainer. Jack returned to Florida to work for Florida Detroit Diesel Allison from 1980-1997as Parts and Service Sales Representative, Dealer Development, Accredited Trainer and Service Manager. Jack retired from Florida Detroit Diesel in 1997. Jack’s passion in life was riding motorcycles, recording thousands of miles on various types of cycles. When Jack retired in 1997, Jack accomplished his dream of riding his motorcycle (pulling a motorcycle trailer) to the “Four Corners of the US”. Jack joined many motorcycle clubs to promote motorcycle education and safety. In addition, Jack served as state director of the Florida Retread Motorcycle Club. Jack loved to tell stories and show photographs of his many motorcycle adventures. Jack was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. Jack’s faith and love of his family provided great inspiration for all who knew him. Jack’s quick wit and fun, positive attitude made Jack a great person to know. Jack is survived by his wife, Carol Schardine and his son, John Schardine and wife, Elizabeth. He is also survived by Stepdaughters Konda Pollard (Mike), and Gretchen Carpenter (Mike), Grandchildren Dareian and Blair Schardine, Lauren Wooster (Grant), Tegan and Tatum Abbey, Karly Pollard, and Anna and Allen Carpenter. Brother Dan Schardine, sister-in-law Rita Schardine, and stepsister Sylvia Negri. Nieces, nephews and Carol’s family members have been special members of the Schardine family. Jack was preceded in death by his parents John Schardine, Marian Cunningham, and brother Dave Schardine.
