Kenneth William Martin

Kenneth William Martin passed away suddenly Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida. He was 51. Services will include a public visitation at 10:00 AM with Memorial Service following at 11:00 AM both held at Bevis Funeral Home of Tallahassee. There will be a reception held at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community (where Ken worked) at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 24, 2014. Ken was born August 8, 1962 in Fall River, MA. He now has joined his father William E Martin, mother Alice Lillian Martin (Schofield), and brother Bruce Martin. He lived primarily between Fall River, MA and New Hope, TN but being a ³Navy Brat² lived in many different areas. One of the places he was very fond of his time in Pensacola, FL. where he enjoyed fishing and spending time by the water. He came to live in Tallahassee in May 1984. Ken proudly served in the USMC from 1979 1982 SEMPER FI. He continued to serve others as a Corrections Officer at the Leon County Sheriff¹s Office from 1996 2003. He initially started working at the Leon County Jail but was excited when he made a moved to the boot camp. He often said "If I can change just one of those young lives it will be worth it." He was currently working as Security Supervisor at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community. His residents were so important to him and his number one priority. Things that Ken enjoyed doing were: coming up with new creations in the kitchen, gardening, spending time with friends and family, fishing, bowling, playing Euchre and riding Harleys. In addition to being know as Ken, he was also called Kenny, Unc, and Unc Jamonia. He is survived by his wife of 17 years Jill St. Angelo (Tallahassee) and their "children", Zeus, Ginger (preceded 4-14-14), Bigboy (dogs), Harley and Apollo (cats), sister Deborah Anderson, nephew Bradley Anderson, niece Micah Anderson, great nephew Palmer and great niece Kaylyn (all of Tallahassee), nephew Glenn White and great niece Aila (HI), nephew Christopher Martin, nephew Joey and wife Shannon Martin, and great nieces Layla and Shelby Martin (South Pittsburg, TN) brother David and wife Susan Martin and nephew Willy (San Angelo, TX), nephew David and wife Christine Martin, Jr. and great niece Harley (Bastrop, TX), father/mother-in-law Douglas and Patricia St. Angelo (Tallahassee), brother/sister-in-law Scott and Kris St. Angelo (Palm Harbor, FL), niece Melanie St. Angelo and nephew Bryson St. Angelo (Tampa, FL). He will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
