Kimberly Gautier Kitchen Robson

Kimberly Gautier Kitchen Robson passed away at her home in Tallahassee, in the company of her loving family on Saturday, April 30, 2011. She was born in Tallahassee on June 27, 1972. She is survived by her husband, Don Robson; her daughter, Nadirah Robson; and her father and mother, Deeno and Patricia Kitchen, all of Tallahassee. Also surviving are her sister, Anne-Elizabeth Williams (Jimmy), nephews and nieces, Jae, Mary-Sheldon, Lael, Rose-Berge’, Crockett and Sara-Gabriel; her brother, Gautier Kitchen (Adele) and niece, Adeline all of Tallahassee; and brother, Deeb-Paul Kitchen, II (Shannon) and niece, Sariya of Gainesville. Her aunt, Priscilla Bornmann (Al) and cousins, Kirsten Fontenrose, all of Virginia and Trey Bornmann of New Orleans; her uncle, Deeb Paul Kitchen of Virginia and her aunt, Angie Bouda and cousins, Jennifer and Paul Bouda of Jacksonville and dear friend, Kerry Kahn Blieburg, Orlando. Kimberly had many interests. As a child, snakes, bugs and spiders always got her protection and she forced the guardian angel looking out for her to run fast and climb high. Throughout her life, she was fiercely protective of her loved ones and was the truest of friends. Her adult interests were varied; from opera to anthropology, archaeology and forensics. Movies were a favorite pastime. She took walks in the rain and picnicked in cemeteries. She enjoyed working with her father on legal aid cases. She was proud of her husband; always ready to share his accomplishments. Their discussions had a depth uncommon in many marriages. Kimberly was an avid reader, reading widely and deeply. Books were a life-long love and she amassed quite a library, including a complete set of Agatha Christie’s mysteries. Emily Dickinson’s poetry made a lasting impression on her life. Her most-beloved author was Emily Bronte. On a trip to England, she and Don visited Bronte’s home and Beatrix Potter’s farm. Nadirah loves that her mother continued to enjoy reading children’s books as an adult. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. With her creative flair, she catered special parties for her dear Nadirah, always making them memorable occasions. Her favorite saint was St. John, the Baptist. She cared passionately for the least among us and had a gift for making everyone feel included, valued and accepted. People in need of sympathy and compassion were drawn to her and she to them. She welcomed them, always showing an ability “to love the withered grass on tombs, even so, the blooming roses.” In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kimberly’s name to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308; LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, 200 West Park Avenue, Tallahassee, FL 32301; or the charity of your choice.
