Kyle Matthew Burke

Kyle Matthew Burke, 42, a Tallahassee native and lifelong resident, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was born on October 31, 1981 and was a graduate of Amos P. Godby High School, class of 2000. Kyle was an assistant market manager for Publix supermarkets. His career in the grocery industry began with his first job working for Winn-Dixie as a teenager. In his youth, Kyle had a diverse array of interests and activities including playing baseball and basketball, skateboarding, swimming, computer gaming and all things FSU Seminoles. His intense love for music, art and literature continued into his adult life. He also enjoyed shooting tournament pool, participating in several leagues over the years while competing both locally and nationally. Kyle cherished his expansive circle of family and friends, maintaining many childhood friendships over the span of his lifetime. He was engaged to the love of his life, Heather Taylor of Tallahassee, Florida. Survivors include his parents, John and Karyn Burke of Tallahassee, Florida; paternal grandmother Ellen W. Burke of Colorado Springs, Colorado; aunts and uncles Gary and Kathy Burke of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Perry E. “Gene” and Kelly Crosson of St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Jay and Barbara Mabee of St. Petersburg, Florida; cousins Brandon and Missy Mabee of Yorktown, Virigina, Aaron Mabee, Garin Crosson and Ryan Crosson, all of St. Petersburg, Florida. Kyle was preceded in death by his brother Shane Michael Burke; his paternal grandfather Patrick J. Burke; maternal grandparents Perry E. “Gene” Sr. and Dorothy Crosson. The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Bevis Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. A celebration of life service officiated by Pastor Ron Roessler of New Hope Christian Center will follow the visitation, at 2:00 pm. A graveside service and interment will be held at MeadowWood Memorial Park of Tallahassee once the celebration of life service has concluded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Camp Amigo, the Children's Burn Camp of North Florida (PO Box 368, Tallahassee, FL 32302) or to Be The Solution (1400 Village Square Blvd #306, Tallahassee, FL 32312).
