Lodie Ann Mitchell

Lodie Ann Mitchell, Crawfordville, FL, went home to be with our Lord and Savior May 1, 2020, surrounded by her family at home. Lodie was born on February 23, 1949 to Emeline and David Bohanon in Octavia, Oklahoma, and she was very proud of her Choctaw heritage. She was a loving wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her and loved her. She was a dedicated Christian who spent many years serving in various roles at church throughout her life, from teaching Sunday School to helping in the nursery. Prior to stepping away from her career to become a caretaker for her beloved father-in-law and sister-in-law, she provided administrative and customer service support in healthcare and for the Federal government for many years in Tallahassee and Miami. Known as “Mimi” to all of her grandbabies, her heart was full taking care of her family in every possible way, and she would certainly consider that her proudest “role” in life. From happily running around after toddlers over the years to speaking at school about her Native American history, she was involved in her grandchildren’s lives in all possible ways. She loved her family fiercely and will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Stan Mitchell; daughters, Gina (Doug) Simpson of Havana and Amber (Blake) Norris; granddaughters, Chelsea (Josh) Crosby, Christine (Tim) Hawkins of Tallahassee, Haley Mitchell of Thomasville, NC, Kayla Walter of Kernersville, NC, Emeline “Milly” Norris, and, her namesake, Ann Sloan Norris; grandsons, Dustin Walter of Winston-Salem, NC, Blake Adam Norris II, and Mitchell Norris; great-granddaughters, Lana Hawkins of Tallahassee, Elena Crosby, Anabelle Willard of Thomasville, NC and Cheyenne “Nellie” Hawkins of Tallahassee; great-grandsons, Christian Hawkins of Tallahassee and Beau Wayne Crosby; brother, Randel (Ruthie) Bohanon of Smithville, OK; sisters, Leona (Richard) Samuels of Smithville, OK, Ella Willis of Tulsa, OK, Della Jones of Fort Smith, AR, Corene (Melvin) Palmer of Red Oak, OK; sisters-in-law, Suzanne (Larkin) Nolan of Montgomery, AL and Kim Mitchell of Tallahassee; numerous nieces and nephews all over the country and a host of friends. Lodie was predeceased by her parents, Emeline and David Bohanon, son, Christopher Mitchell, brothers, Clark Bohanon, Esias Bohanon, and sister, Alicetine Bohanon, parents-in-law, Harry and Pleasant Mitchell, sister-in-law, Jeannie Mitchell, and brothers-in-law, Chip Mitchell of Tallahassee, Karl Willis of Tulsa, OK and Pat Wilbanks of Montgomery, AL. A private family service will be held Friday, May 8, 2020, with a memorial service planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Ellen Baptist Church designated Respite Care program at 4495 Crawfordville Hwy, Crawfordville, FL 32327 or a charity of your choice.
