Lucius Charles "Charlie" Lingo

Lucius “Charlie” Lingo, 83 of Tallahassee went home to be with the Lord Sunday March 31, 2024 He was born October 23, 1940 in Tallahassee. He was the son of the late Lucius Lingo and Frances Miller. He is survived by his wife Linda Folsom Lingo, son Shannon Lingo (Robin), daughters Cassie Lingo-Lee (Danny), and Jamie Lingo. Grandchildren, Luke Lingo, Mason Shiver, Hannah, Kris Lingo (Michaelah), Kyle Lingo, Tyler Lingo (Olivia), Zack Lingo (deceased), Amber McDonald (Joey), and Megan Lee. Great Grandchildren, Bryce Elliott, Brantley McDonald, Harper Lingo and a host of nieces and nephews. Charlie was married to his loving wife Linda Folsom Lingo for 56 years. Celebration of life for Charlie will be held Tuesday April 9, 2024 at Meridian Woods Church of Christ at 10am, followed by a lunch for everyone in the fellowship hall, and burial at The National Cemetery at 2pm. In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to either Wounded Warrior Project, Shriners Hospital for Children, or St. Jude. He died March 31, 2024, surrounded by family. He grew up in the Tallahassee area. He attended Leon high school, where he played football, graduating in 1959. He joined the Air Force and after leaving Maguire Air Force base in New Jersey; he was stationed in Thule, Greenland. Upon returning, he joined the Tallahassee Police Department in 1966. The dapper young man, in uniform was introduced to Miss Linda Folsom in November, 1967. After a whirlwind courtship, they were married March 30, 1968. They recently celebrated their 56 years of marriage. Charlie loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We all loved sitting on the porchswing and listening to him play the harmonica or listening to Jerry Clower and just laughing. Charlie was a TPD Patrol Officer - that’s who he was until the day he died! He worked for the Tallahassee Police Department for forty years and he loved his job. He was a champion of the law; if you broke the law you got a ticket; even his mother would not have been exempt. He wrote more tickets than any other officer, during his career. He was intimidating and tough as an officer, but he softened with age. He saw and appreciated the beauty of God’s creation! A favorite verse of Charlie’s was “ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to my Lord, my rock and my salvation.” Once A copper, your always a copper that is just how it is to be. Bigger than life this ole motor man copper, he will always be.
