Marvin F. Sauls born on April 8, 1941 in Tallahassee, FL to Paul V. and Jessie Strickland Sauls, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Marvin was known for his kind and gentle spirit, and unwavering commitment to his family and church. Marvin retired from the Secretary of State as the print shop manager for 34 years. During his retirement he loved working in his wood shop and on the family farm with Jane's Mother. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn and flower beds and spent countless hours maintaining them. After his son David retired, they continued the family tradition of seasonal planting and working together on the family farm. He was married to his loving wife Jane for 56 years until she passed in February 2018. Together they raised two children, David and Lisa. Marvin's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life. His smile would light up the room whenever he saw them. He wanted nothing more than for Jane to meet their great grandchildren. The family takes comfort knowing he is telling her all about them. During Jane's political aspirations, Marvin played a pivotal supporting role. He spent countless hours behind the scenes making sure Jane had the most successful campaigns. Going door to door walking neighborhoods, building and waving signs, he was her biggest supporter and never missed a chance to tell everyone how proud he was of her. Marvin still has all her campaign signs and memorabilia from the 20 years Jane served as County Commissioner for District 2 of Leon County. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Jane G. Sauls, parents Paul V. and Jessie Sauls, brother Carl Sauls, and brother-in-law Buck Hatcher. Marvin is survived by his son David Sauls (Cathy), daughter Lisa Boles (Brad), grandchildren Ryan Boles (Chelsee), Caitlen Boles, Morgan McLeod (Logan) and four great grandchildren Rylie, Denver, Grady, and Kennedi. He is also survived by his sister Marjorie Miller, sister-in-law Floretia Hatcher and numerous nieces and nephews that adored him. Lastly, his loyal canine companion Buddy Mac. The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Generations Church on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 1:00pm with a service to follow at 2:00pm. Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery once the service has concluded. Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
