Melissa Lasseter Cato, 55, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at her home. Born on January 21, 1969 in Dougherty County, Georgia to the late Garrett “Billy” Nathaniel and Ruby Jones Lasseter. She was a retired Registered Radiologic Technologist and Christian by faith. Melissa loved animals, music, photography, creating art, movies, and television. She is survived by her husband Evan Cato of Tallahassee, Florida, sister Lisa Brady (Buddy) of Colquitt County, Georgia, brother Kenneth Lasseter (Faye) of Thomas County, Georgia, sister Regina Walker of Swainsboro, Georgia, stepsister Dorenda Miller (Tony) of Decatur County, Georgia, stepsister Sherry Roberts of Swainsboro, Georgia, sister-in-law Stephanie Cato Ayers of Stone Mountain, Georgia, brother-in-law Daniel Ayers of Stone Mountain, Georgia, aunt Gwen Beck (Billy) of Camilla, Georgia, aunt Patsy Lasseter of Decatur County, Georgia, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her stepbrother Timothy Clark, grandfather Garrett Lasseter, grandmother Ila Lasseter, step-grandmother Corrine Lasseter, grandfather William Jones Sr., grandmother Ruby Blount Jones, aunt Janet Johnson, uncle Curtis Johnson, uncle Freddie Lasseter, aunt Ernestine Price, uncle Bill Price, aunt Gayle Hall, uncle Paul Hall, aunt Mildred Louise Christmas Lasseter Ridley, uncle William Jones Jr., father-in-law Evans Cato, mother-in-law Mildred Cato, and brother-in-law Ronald “R.C.” Walker. Celebration of life and memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm online and will be hosted and recorded for later viewing by Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida at www.bevisfh.com/obituaries/Melissa-Cato/TributeWall.
