Melvin O'Dennis Bennett III

Melvin O’Dennis Bennett III “D.B.”, 73 of Tallahassee, Florida went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10th, 2022 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida but moved to Tallahassee at a young age with his parents and siblings. A 1967 graduate of Rickards High School. He was a huge lover of all things Harley Davidson who made it his life’s mission to attend the Annual Daytona Beach Bike Week every year. On Sundays if he wasn’t up at his favorite bar and grille, The Hobbit (South) enjoying time with his fellow friends of the biker community, he could most certainly be found hanging out on his back porch watching NASCAR. Dennis, as he was known by many will be remembered by his family and friends for all of the amazing things he was able to build with just his two hands and very little for supplies, most of all his beloved “Hen House”. A retiree after 23 years with the Florida Department of Transportation where he spent his days as an Engineer-Architectural Surveying Supervisor, he wasn’t quite ready to lay down his tools just yet. He spent the second half of his life as a roofer, where he enjoyed traveling and working throughout the U.S. seeing many places along the way. He is preceded in death by his wife and soul mate Donna Rose Jones-Bennett, brother Gary Bennett, father Melvin Bennett Jr., cousin and life-long best friend Randy Bennett. Survivors include; mother Winifred “Virgina” Waldrop of Crawfordville, Florida, brothers Donald “Donny” Bennett, and Larry Bennett (Stephanie) both of Crawfordville, sisters Melvyne Lord, Charlene Daniels (Clarence) both of Tallahassee, and Suzi Mach (Quinton) of Port Orchard, WA. His children; son Kistopher Bennett of Crawfordville, daughters Kimberly “Sister” Bennett (Chad) of Winter Haven, Florida, Christie Rose Clark (Judd), and Amanda Jane Jones (Charles) both of Tallahassee. Seven grandchildren; Tre’ Curlee (Megan) of Crawfordville, Kryslyne Rutland (Brett) of Tallahassee, Trent Brantley of Winter Haven, Haley Bennett of Crawfordville, Boston “Boss Man” Clark of Tallahassee, Ethan Bennett of Crawfordville, and Amiel Hernandez of Tallahassee. Four great-grandchildren; Bentley Curlee, Emmerson Rutland, Beau Curlee, and Grady Rutland. His best friend and honorable “brother in life”, Mike Rogers (Linda) of St. Marks, Florida. In addition to a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews. A Celebration of Life has been planned for Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 at 11am at Bevis Funeral Home of Tallahassee with interment and lunch to follow at Ivan Assembly of God in Crawfordville. The family will receive friends at the home of Dennis and Donna Rose for “one last shindig” in the Hen House as requested by him. He also requested that any donations given in his honor be shared with Big Bend Hospice, Toys-for-Tots, and The Wounded Warrior Project.
