Michael "Mike" Hugh Harrison Sr.

Michael “Mike” Hugh Harrison Sr, 77, of Tallahassee, FL, was reunited in heaven with his wife of 56 years, Diane Sears Harrison, on February 2, 2023. Mike was born on September 7th, 1945, in Miami, FL. He was the oldest of three children of Blanchard Lee Harrison Sr and Bertie Mae Tucker. He graduated from Leon High School in 1963 and then attended North Florida Junior College. He later moved to Jacksonville to work for F.T. Kelley Company, where he met the love of his life, Diane. Mike and Diane were married in 1966 and went on to have two children, ElizaBeth Diane Harrison and Michael Harrison Jr. Mike was an entrepreneur who owned many successful businesses including, Carpet Studio, Uncle Mike’s Carpet Barn, and Florida Rug and Mats. His favorite enterprise by far was his cattle ranching, which began with his father, and will be carried on by his granddaughter. He was the longest attending buyer of the Thomasville Stockyard, and an active member of Wacissa Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mike enjoyed traveling with Diane to the mountains as often as they could, reading cowboy books and fishing at Live Oak Island, taking road trips with his cousin Duffie to cheer on the Florida State Seminoles, and attending daily breakfast meetings with his life-long friend Sammy Gray. Mike is also known for his bountiful garden, which he loved sharing the fruits of his labor with so many. Big Mike was a strong Christian man who invested his time and heart in those who will carry on his legacy of strength, compassion, and integrity. He will always be the King of the Hill, and President of the HOA. He is survived by his children, ElizaBeth Diane Harrison, and Michael Harrison Jr. (Linda); grandchildren, Brantley Tucker Mayers, Harrison Brock Mayers, Erica Jewel Harrison, Kalyn Mae Harrison; brother, Blanchard Lee Harrison Jr (Patricia), sisters, Dale Quick (Dave), Teresa Liska (Larry), Faye Harrison; cousin, Duffie Harrison (Susie); nieces, Shannon-Dale, Courtney, Daryn, Jen Turner (Scott); nephews: Brian (LaRae), Chip, Duffer; and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Diane Harrison, brother Alvin Harrison, and sister Joel Narkinsky. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, at Bevis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
