Patricia Gunter "Patsy" Mims

Patricia (Patsy) Gunter Mims’ life journey began on January 16, 1952 in Cairo, GA and her heavenly journey began on September 16, 2021 in Tallahassee, FL. The Gunter family moved to Tallahassee in 1954. Patsy attended school in Leon County and graduate from Leon High School in 1970. She married Floyd Mims in 1971 and they moved to Crawfordville in 1973. She worked as a proof operator at Capital City Bank, Marine State Bank and Wakulla Bank. She was also employed as a Dental Assistant in Crawfordville. Patsy was also a Walmart greeter. Patsy and Floyd enjoyed fishing and camping at Stoutamire’s Landing on the Ochlockonee River. They shared a love for animals and God’s beautiful nature. Her love and passion for animals led her to be a wildlife rescuer. Squirrels were her favorite. This passion for animals brought tremendous joy to her life. She was a pet sitter for twenty years. Another joy for Patsy was her African violets. She also enjoyed “backyard campfire stomps” when they would talk, laugh and listen to music. Patsy’s enthusiasm for life was beyond measure. For sure and certain, she will be remembered, missed and loved beyond forever and a day. Her son, David had this to say about his mother: She was an honest, beautiful mom who always had the best intentions for anyone. She loved animals and even rehabbed wild ones. She also cared very much about what was going on in the world and did what she could to make changes in the world. I am her only son ad proud of how she raised me to be a good person and smart about things. I will always love and miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Frank and Alma Chason Gunter; her twin sister, Paula Gunter Perry; her brothers, Halton and Earl (Shorty) Gunter. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Floyd Mims; her beloved son, David; brother, Farris Gunter ; nephews, Glenn Gunter, Nathan Roberts; and nieces, Brenda Keigan (Martin) and Kay Hefley of; sister-in-law, Janie Jordan Vinson; a cherished friend of 30 years, Linne Close. In Memory of Patsy, the family requests donations be made to Florida Wildlife Management.
