Pearl Fisher Newland

Pearl Fisher Newland passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015. Pearl was born on March 19, 1918 in Battleboro, North Carolina, to Luther Fisher and Sally Elizabeth Stewart Fisher. Preceding her in death was her husband, James Middleton Newland of Wilmington, NC. Also by her sisters Edelle Fulcher of Tuscon, AZ, Emily Nuchols and Clarice Johnson of Rocky Mount, NC, Annie Lou Melvin and Naomi Philips of Battleboro, NC and Grandson, Ralph Glen Newland of Elkton, Florida. Pearl grew up in the Battleboro/Rocky Mount area of North Carolina. She and her husband Jimmy raised their family in Jacksonville, Florida where they were members of Woodstock Park Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church. She worked for Towers Hardware and Martha Rose Gift Shop in Jacksonville. She was an avid crafter who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, tatting and knitting. She was always happy when making something special for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pearl moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 2006 to be closer to her family as her health needs changed. She was a member of Bradfordville First Baptist Church. Pearl is survived by her son Ralph Fisher Newland, his wife, Beverly; grandson, Eric Leigh Newland and great-granddaughters, Debby and Catalina Newland of Elkton, FL. Her daughter Martha Newland Guemple and her husband, Roy Randolph Guemple; granddaughter Jennifer Guemple Cobb, her husband Christopher and great-grandsons, Joey, Jack and Charlie Cobb; granddaughter Stephanie Guemple Zottoli, her husband William and great-grandchildren, Billy and Kaitlyn Zottoli; grand-daughter Randi (Pepper) Fleischer, her husband Kenner and great-grandchildren Justin Fleischer, Chase and Paige Fleischer; and grandson William Guemple of Tallahassee, FL. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Brookdale Centre Pointe Boulevard (Clare Bridge) for the excellent care and loving friendship she received in their care the last four years of her life. We would also like to thank the nurses, nurse’s aides, doctors and surgeons of Capital Regional Medical Center for their care during her recent hospital stay and surgery. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel in Tallahassee. Interment will be 10:00 AM, Friday, May 29, 2015 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
