Peggy Shannon Day, 78 of Tallahassee, Fl passed peacefully into her heavenly Father’s arms on January 7, 2026. Born in Valdosta, Georgia; Peggy spent her early years growing up in Jacksonville, Fl where she faithfully attended Lakeshore Baptist Church. Following high school, she followed in her father’s footsteps and attended Florida State University where she played in the band and graduated with a degree in Social Work. Shortly following graduation, she married her husband Bill, whom she spent 56 years together with. Following Bill’s call to ministry, she took on the role of minister’s wife, which she fulfilled in many ways and was able to assist various ministries throughout her adult life. Raising her two sons, Richard and Warren, she was a stay-at-home mother who used her time to mold them both into the men they would become. Later in life, Peggy returned to the workplace where she directed the office of the Baptist Community Ministries in New Orleans, La. In addition to her work with local ministries. Peggy was very devoted to her family, especially when they needed her most. Her granddaughter Alisa was a very special part of her life as were her brothers when they needed her support. Even through the loss of her youngest son, a battle with breast cancer, and a stroke; Peggy was one the strongest, Godliest women to all who knew her. Survived by her husband, William H Day Jr, her son Richard, granddaughter Alisa (Marshal) and great grandchildren Sage and Alayna as well as many other family members; Peggy is proceeded in death by her son (Warren), her parents (Joe and Margaret Shannon), and brothers (Frank and Joe Shannon). The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Bevis Funeral Home on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Bevis Funeral Home on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be given to Lakeview Baptist Church, Tallahassee. Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the Day family with their arrangements.
