Priscilla "Penny" Mostyn

Priscilla "Penny" Mostyn, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Penny was born on July 10, 1943, in Worthington, Florida, to Artis and Lillian Yarbrough. She graduated from Leon High School and went on to graduate from Florida State University. Penny was an exceptionally intelligent woman with a natural talent for technology and computers, something that was especially evident throughout her career. Penny built a long and successful career, working for numerous law firms before joining the State of Florida, where she eventually retired as a Data Processing Manager. She was remarkably smart and capable, and she had a way of understanding technology and IT that was ahead of its time. She took pride in her work and in the life she built for herself and her family. But Penny's greatest joy was her family. She loved being together, sharing stories and laughter, traveling, and especially playing cards. Some of the best memories were made around a table with family, enjoying each other's company and making memories that will last a lifetime. Penny leaves behind her devoted husband of more than 30 years, Kenneth "Ken" Mostyn. Their marriage was filled with love, companionship, and the many memories they made together throughout the years. She is also survived by her daughter, Michele Cross (Wayne). Michele's love and devotion to her mother were unwavering, and she was there for Penny with tenderness, strength, and compassion when her mother needed her most. Penny was blessed to have a daughter who cared for her with such love. Penny's only granddaughter, Madison Cook, and Madison's wife, Talise, held a very special place in her heart. Madison was truly the love of her grandmother's life. Their bond was extraordinary, and Penny adored her granddaughter beyond words. She was incredibly proud of Madison, and the love they shared will continue to live on through her. Talise also became a cherished part of Penny's family and was there with love, kindness, and compassion during Penny's time of need. Together, Michele, Madison, and Talise helped surround Penny with the love and comfort of family when she needed it most. Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Artis and Lillian Yarbrough; her brother, Randall "Randy" Yarbrough; and her beloved son, Charles "Chuck" Register. While their loss left an emptiness in her heart, we find comfort knowing that Penny is now at peace and reunited in Heaven with her son, Chuck, and her beloved family members who passed before her. After all the years of missing them, she is finally home with those she loved so dearly. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to "Miss Thelma" Bell, whose loving care and compassion brought comfort to Penny during her final days. "Miss Thelma" became more than a caregiver—she became someone Penny and her family could trust and love. Her kindness, presence, and dedication will always be remembered with heartfelt gratitude. The funeral service will be at 12:30PM on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road, with the interment following at Tallahassee National Cemetery. Penny's life was defined by the people she loved and the love she gave in return. She leaves behind memories filled with laughter, family, travel, card games, and countless moments that will be treasured forever. She will be deeply missed, but the love she shared with her family will never be lost. Love is never wasted when it is shared.
