Richard Steven Moon Sr.

Richard Steven Moon, Sr., “Steve”, as everyone knew him, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2013. He was born on September 29, 1953 in Tallahassee, FL to James Hyde Moon and Mary Frances Moon. Steve was a loving husband, father and a soon to be grandfather to his first grandchild. Steve had been a resident of Crawfordville, FL for the past 18 years. He graduated from Richards High school in Tallahassee and then joined the United States Coast Guard where he served for four years. He dearly loved the Coast Guard. Steve worked for the Capital Police as a special agent and the Leon County Civic Center Security before going to the U.S. Marshal’s office. In 1988 he made his last move to the U.S. Postal Service where he has been employed for the past 25 years. His co-workers at the Post Office on South Adams Street in Tallahassee were his extended family. Steve was known and loved by many and never met a stranger. He was a very compassionate and caring person. Steve loved saltwater fishing, boating and FSU football. He was a firm believer in the Weather Channel during hurricane season. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel in Crawfordville, FL. Funeral services will be Friday, April 12, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel, Crawfordville, FL. Burial will follow at Arran Annex Cemetery. Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Steve is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anita; sons: Richard Steven Moon, Jr. (Aimee Moon) and Matthew Tyler Moon, all of Crawfordville, FL; He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Moon (Wanda Moon) of Cairo, GA; and one sister, Heidi Moon and step-mother, Martha Moon, both from Tallahassee, FL and Hilton Head, S.C; Steve also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many other family members and loyal friends; He leaves behind two of his very best and most loyal friends; his dogs, Bentley and Tobie. Steve was predeceased by his father, James Hyde Moon, his mother, Mary Frances Moon and sister, Kay Frances Moon. Steve will be loved and missed by all. Rest in Peace, dear husband, dad, and friend.
