Richard Evans Sawyer

Richard Evans sawyer has been called home to his Heavenly Father while surrounded by his family and friend's on January 26, 2025 at the Big Bend Hospice Center of Compassionate Care. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Evan Sawyer; father, Richard Fieldings Sawyer; and 2 guide dogs Madison and Rainbow . Born in Canton, Massachusetts on February 26, 1952. He attended Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts and obtained his Eagle Scout. He graduated from Boston College and was a proud member of their alumni. While living in Massachusetts he was involved with the Carroll Center for the Blind and worked in the public school system until he moved to Florida in 2007 where he started RS Vending Inc. Richard was an active member of the Tallahassee Council of the Blind. He was an avid lover of the Boston Red Sox and Boston College Eagles. His pure passion in life was spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music or reading while soaking in the sun. An avid coffee connoisseur. You always knew when he was in a room from his laughter and the smiles on the faces around him. He was a humble, loving, confidant, and friendly man. Giving the best advice and told the funniest or corniest jokes. He leaves behind his wife, Shelley Sawyer, and stepson Bryan Krahn of of Tallahassee, Florida; his two sisters, Susan Sawyer of Boscawen, New Hampshire and Gail Howe of Dedham, Massachusetts; his oldest daughter, Mary Sawyer Bolton (Jason Bolton) of Crouse, North Carolina; his youngest daughter, Sarah Sawyer Brown (Alan Brown) of Statesville, North Carolina. One of his proudest names he went by was grandpa to his 6 grandchildren Taven, Austin, Autumn, Joseph, Noah, and Sawyer. Along with many nieces and nephews, many close and loved friends, and his beloved pets Marley and Noodle. At this difficult time the family is celebrating his life among themselves and he hated funerals.
