Robert Russell Millender

Robert "Robby" Russell Millender, Sr., 61 years old, passed away peacefully at home during the early hours of Sunday, April 30, 2017. Robby was born on October 2, 1955 in Apalachicola, Florida to Richard Douglas Millender and Virginia "Puggy" Josephine Millender. Robby grew up in Carrabelle with brother Douglas Millender, and two sisters, Linda Orr (Millender), and Minnie Fitzgerald (Millender). Robby was married to his high school sweetheart, Ima Jean Thomas, on February 17, 1973, they were married for 44 years and together had a daughter and son, Candi Roberts (Millender) and Robert "Buck" Russell Millender, Jr. Robby was a graduate of Carrabelle High School and Gulf Coast Community College. He began his career with Franklin County Sheriff Department later transferring to Florida Department of Corrections at the Franklin County Work Camp. While working at Franklin Correctional Institution as a Work Squad Lieutenant he took pride in the Community Beautification Program before retiring after 19 years of service. Robby was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and horseback riding with his family and friends to include competing in ACTHA competitions. For 25 years Robby was a member of the Curfew Masonic Lodge #73, in Carrabelle, Florida. He is survived by wife, Ima Gene Millender (Thomas), children Candi Gene Roberts (David) and Robert "Buck" Russell Millender Jr. (Chrisanne), Grandchildren Harley Brianne Hammon, Virginia "Erin" Hammon, Sonja Roberts, Steven Roberts, Ariel Remington Turner Millender, and Jessie Robert Millender. Sister Linda Orr (Millender). Nieces/Nephews Dodie Hatfield, Cindi Orr, Richard Millender (Crystal), Travis Millender (Rose), Dusty Millender (Nikki), Bobbie Millender (Crystal), including extended family Joe Hammon (Becky), Paula Armitage, Anna, and Tammie Jo. Numerous great nieces and nephews that were all loved. Proceeded in death by: Parents Richard Douglas Millender and Virginia "Puggy" Josephine Millender, Brother Doug Millender, sister Minnie Fitzgerald (Millender), Father In-Law Grady Eugene Thomas and Mother In-Law Gladys Brazell, Brother In-Law Paul Orr, and sweet angel Katy Lee Morris. Services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Carrabelle Christian Center, 136 River Road, Carrabelle, Florida visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m., memorial beginning at 3:30 p.m. followed by covered dish dinner.
