Roy Franklin Beck

Roy Franklin "Frank" Beck, 83, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. Frank was born on December 28, 1941, in Thomasville, North Carolina. At the age of 11, he moved to Tallahassee, a city he would proudly call home for the rest of his life. He served honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard and later built a successful career in telecommunications, working with Centel for over 20 years. In 1987, he founded his own company, Florida State Telephone Co., which continues to operate today as a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication. Frank was a man of many passions. He was a dedicated businessman, an avid runner, a die-hard fan of all Florida State University athletics, and a self-proclaimed pancake connoisseur. His warmth, determination, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He is survived by his children: Lisa Schram (Doug), Michelle Briggs (Don), Kim Beck (Brian), Chris Lambert, Jessie Beck (Ashley), Bev Wyche (Jimmy), his sister Sonja Gardner, as well as 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Raymond Beck; his mother, Muriel Fox; and his sister, Palma Lou Adkins. Frank will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery of Tallahassee, Florida on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 12:00pm. The family requests that anyone attending the funeral please wear their best Florida State attire. For those who do not wish to attend the funeral but would like to celebrate the life of Frank Beck, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life at The Hub at Feather Oaks (6500 Miccosukee Rd. TLH, FL) on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, from 3:00PM until 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Frank’s memory to the Florida State Boosters, in tribute to his lifelong love for FSU.
