Sandra L. Till

Sandra L. Till, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Fayetteville, NC. She is survived by her sons: Reggie (Lisa), Jake (Donna), Larry, John (Lavonda), Peter (Sandy) and her daughters: Tami (Jim), Shirley (Anthony); her grandchildren: Bryan (Julie), Steve (Nicky), Peyton, Bailey, Cameron (Amanda), Eric (Melanie), Emily (Clark), Lucas, Nicholas, Jordan, Emily, Nathan (Kylie), Jared, Tayler, Tristan, Pete (Rachel); her great grandchildren: Abby, Emma, Brynley and Penelope; and countless other friends and extended family. Sandra was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 24, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Sterling and Dorma Davis. She spent her childhood in Nebraska and Montana, and she always kept her love of the mid-west. In 1954, while singing in the church choir at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Omaha, her beauty and angelic voice caught the eye of a young Air Force Chaplain stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. He quickly realized she was even more beautiful on the inside. She soon became the wife of Chaplain Jacob E. Till, Jr, and they began their 55-year adventure together. She served along-side her husband as an Air Force Chaplain’s wife in Nebraska, Texas, and Florida, and a pastor’s wife in Quincy, Fort Braden, and the Tallahassee, Florida area. It wasn’t long after marriage that the Till family began to grow. Jake and Sandra had four sons within 5 years, and then Sandra gladly welcomed another son, a war refugee hungry for education, that Jake brought home from his military assignment in Korea. Several years later, two daughters joined the family, and Sandra spent 40 years of her life raising children. She taught her children and grandchildren the real meaning of selfless love and grace, and that true joy only comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ and service to others. The greatest gift she gave her children was the certainty she is spending eternity with our Heavenly Father. In addition to her role as wife and mother, she also found time to decorate for numerous showers, receptions, birthday parties, weddings; cook weekly meals for the Quincy Exchange Club, host Sunday dinners, and she never turned away a wanderer who knocked at the church parsonage door. She served as a volunteer with the Red Cross, March of Dimes, and numerous other organizations, while also teaching Sunday School, conducting children’s plays, singing, coordinating fund-raisers, visiting hospitals and nursing homes, and leading Women’s and Girls’ Auxiliaries. She provided transportation to anyone in need and still found time to enjoy gardening, sewing, crocheting, and crafting hobbies. Her greatest joy came from serving Jesus Christ and sharing His love, helping and giving to others, and talking about her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob E. Till, Jr. and her sister, Nora Kimsey Boggs. The family wishes to thank Bevis Funeral and her friends and extended family for your compassion, care, and support. The family will receive friends Monday, October 25, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Bevis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Bevis Chapel.
