Scott Richard Mainwaring

Scott Richard Mainwaring, a caring father, loyal friend, and loving husband, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022. Scott was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 7, 1962. His parents were Thomas Mainwaring and Mary Farrell Mainwaring. Scott was known for his compassion, friendliness, and humor. He was constantly making friends wherever he went, and his jokes could make a room full of people laugh. Scott was never afraid to act goofy if it meant brightening someone else’s day. He was a lifelong Christian who attended Wildwood Church in Tallahassee, FL. In addition to donating to the church, he also enjoyed supporting organizations such as Dance Marathon. Scott always tried to give back to his community and help others. He was a role model for his family and friends. After attending Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, FL, he went on to Furman University in Greenville, SC to pursue his dream of playing golf. His teammates remember him as always being encouraging, polite, thoughtful, and kind. His love of golf will never be forgotten. Scott was a Certified Public Accountant and worked as the Chief Financial Officer at Summit Group in Tallahassee, FL. He worked with tenants, completed financials, and oversaw the accounting staff. His coworkers recall him being a patient listener, brilliant with numbers, and genuinely interested in everyone around him. He also helped his wife Lory with accounting at her store Sweet Blue. Scott is survived by his wife Lory Mainwaring, his five children Sean, Jared, Amanda, Lydia, and Haley, and his siblings Kevin, Jim, Eileen, and Bruce. His family will cherish the time they were able to spend with such an incredible man. A service celebrating Scott’s life will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road in Tallahassee. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The interment will be held in Berrydale, FL, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Big Bend Hospice (https://bigbendhospice.charityproud.org/Donate) or the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org ) in honor of Scott’s brave battle with cancer. For over four years, he underwent various cancer treatments and remained strong and optimistic even in the most difficult of circumstances.
