Sybil Haire Dollar

Sybil Haire Dollar passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14th, 2015 surrounded by her family at her home in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born on December 9th, 1925 in Colquitt, Georgia to Gary Eugene and Alma Dunn Haire. Sybil was married for 61 years to her best friend and soul-mate, Robert Ford Dollar, before his passing on April 28, 2004. A resident of Tallahassee since 1948, Sybil worked as a bank teller at Capital City Bank in downtown Tallahassee for 37 years. Mrs. Dollar was given numerous opportunities for promotion throughout her career but would always graciously decline, citing how she would miss seeing her customers, many of which would pass by an open window and stand in line just to see her. Her customers, co-workers, friends and family will always remember her as the sweetest, most genuine and selfless person they’ve ever known. She will be deeply missed but her legacy will live on through the many lives impacted by her beautiful, kind spirit. Sybil is survived by her two sons, Bob Dollar (Rosey), and Jim Dollar (Shirley), three grandchildren, Lisa Guthrie (Doug), Trey Dollar (Cristy), Dale Dollar (Lisa), four great-grandchildren, Amanda Griffin (Stephen), Josh Guthrie (Lacy), Jacob Guthrie, Jordan Guthrie and two great-great-grandchildren, Kylie Guthrie and Logan Griffin. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her four siblings Margaret Stevenson, Elaine Monsees, Elmer Haire, and Leon Haire. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Mrs. Nora Herron for being such a wonderful friend to Mrs. Dollar. They are forever grateful for the special love, care and friendship Mrs. Herron provided for Mrs. Dollar. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18 from 6pm-8pm at Bevis Funeral Home on North Monroe. A funeral service to celebrate Sybil’s life will be held Wednesday August 19, at 1:00 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3705 North Monroe St, Tallahassee, Florida followed by a brief graveside service at Tallahassee Memory Gardens on North Monroe St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to In Touch Ministries, P.O.
