Timothy Sheen Coughlin, Sr., 73, known to most by “Tim” passed away on May 2, 2026 in Tallahassee, Florida where he has lived for all of his life. He was born on November 18, 1952 to parents Paul John Coughlin and Claire Busby Coughlin. Tim graduated from Leon High School prior to graduating from Florida State University with his Bachelors in Criminology. Tim later joined the Leon County Sheriff’s Office where he enjoyed 35 years of service to our community and beyond. He retired in 2009 as a Lieutenant. Tim was a devoted member of Saint Louis Catholic Church and when he wasn’t working, he heavily involved himself in various church activities as well as Knights of Columbus Council 12929 where he served as a trustee. Tim was very active with the Boys Scouts of America and cherished his many memories with his son, Timothy, as an Eagle Scout. Although, his favorite job that he was most passionate about was being a grandfather, “Pops”, to his four beloved grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Naomi Smith Coughlin; children Timothy Coughlin, Jr. (Shannon), Jennifer Zadra (Matt) and Sarah Beha (Ben) all of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren Tanner Coughlin, Ava Coughlin, Braylyn Zadra and Brynna Zadra; siblings Richard Coughlin, Louise Curtin, Carroll Keough, Kathleen Coughlin and Brent Coughlin as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members whom he loved deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Kevin Coughlin, Hannah Coughlin, Terry Coughlin and Brian Coughlin. A memorial mass will be held at Saint Louis Catholic Church of Tallahassee on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10:00am with a reception to immediately follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice.
