Travis Reynolds

Travis Reynolds, 86, of Tallahassee passed away Tuesday, 24 September 2019 in Tallahassee, Florida. Born 14 November 1932 in Greenville, Alabama, raised on a farm with four older brothers along with Mom and Dad. They raised cattle, corn, cotton, peanuts, strawberries, and chickens to provide for the family. In January 1950, Travis joined the Alabama National Guard, serving in the 117th Field Artillery Battalion. A Veteran of the Korean War, January 1951 to September 1952, he received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. In June 1956, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in History from Troy State University. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in January 1957, he was appointed Commander Battery A, 117th FA Battalion. July 1959, he transferred to the Florida National Guard as a Civil Service Technician. Captain Reynolds was Appointed Commander Company “C” Armored Rifle Battalion 124th Infantry. In 1963 he was appointed HHC Commander 260st Engineer Group. Colonel Reynolds continued to serve in various positions of Command and responsibility retiring from the Guard in August 1987 as the 53rd Signal Brigade's Deputy Commander. Following his retirement from the Florida Army National Guard, he worked with the Florida Lottery from August1987 to November1997. Travis is survived by his Bride, Rose Marie Reynolds; Son: Rodger T. Reynolds (wife Daphne); Seven Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. Arrangements for Colonel Reynolds are as follows: - Visitation is Sunday, Sep 29th, from 3-5 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home (200 John Knox Rd in Tallahassee). - Funeral service will be Monday, Sept 30th, at 11 am at Bevis Funeral Home, followed by internment ceremony at the VA National Cemetery (5015 Apalachee Parkway) at 1 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America in-lieu of flowers.
