Vera "Krickett" Miller

Vera “Krickett” Miller, 76 years of age, passed on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee. Krickett was born July 18, 1946, in Conway, SC to the late Clarence and Vera Chestnut. She was the eldest of 5 children (Buddy Chestnut, Gail Drouillard, Audry King and Alice “Bunny” Spears), 3 preceded her in death. Krickett married the late Roland Miller in 1982 and they raise her two children together from a previous marriage. Before Krickett remarried, she worked several jobs simultaneously to raise her girls on her own and never complained one day about it, because she did what she needed to ensure their wellbeing. Her final employer was Betts, Rogers & Schenck, a CPA firm here in Tallahassee for approximately 20 years, before retiring and becoming a homemaker. She later became a First Lady and Eastern Star of the Marzuq Shrine Center in 1993. Krickett loved to travel, walk on the beach in the rain, read, sew, decorate both her home and lawn, then on many occasions over the years, planted a vegetable garden. She most loved spending time with family and friends, laughing and always wearing an unforgettable beautiful smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to so many. She never met a stranger and always treated everyone equally. She will live in our hearts and mind always and never be forgotten. Krickett leaves to cherish her loving memory to her children: Terresa Grosvenor (Jason), Dawn Kniffen (Larry); 3 grandchildren, Taylor Grosvenor, Dylan Stevens, Tyler Holt; one great-grandchild, Neal Stevens, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services: Friday, December 30, 2022, at Bevis Funeral Home (200 John Knox Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32303), beginning at 11:00am with reception to following. The graveside service is scheduled for 2:00pm at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Krickett loved flowers, but she would appreciate any donations to go to Big Bend Hospice.
