Wayne Lorne Worthington, Sr.

Wayne Lorne Worthington Sr., 55, known to many as Coco, passed away on December 15, 2019 in Apalachicola, Florida. He was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on November 27, 1964. He resided most of the time on a shrimp boat but he lived on CC Land Road in Eastpoint, Florida with his daughter Amanda. Wayne was a beloved father, brother, uncle and pawpaw. Wayne's life started in New Bedford, Massachusetts. His father worked on the water a lot while he was growing up. They moved around from place to place, wherever his father's work took them though out his childhood, so he got to see so many places in the world and meet so many wonderful people. Wayne moved to Carrabelle, Florida from Coco Beach (That's were his nick name, Coco.) Wayne worked on the water for most of his life scalloping, shrimping and doing whatever work that involved seafood mostly. He was also known for diving under boats to clean the bottoms with them still in the water, or to clean out the boat wheels when stuff would get stuck in them. Wayne learned his diving skills from his father, Walter Worthington. That is also where he got his love for the water. With these facts, in the end Wayne loved living in Franklin County and cared for so many wonderful people here in our county. Wayne is survived by his children, daughter Amanda Worthington-Brannen (spouse, Charles Brannen Jr.) and son Wayne L. Worthington Jr.; his grandchildren, Labar Stokes and Shaylee Stokes; the mother of his children, Donna Kennedy; his siblings, sister, Shelia Overlin, and brother, Gene Worthington; also all of his nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Worthington; his sister, Linda Messer. He will also be met by his beloved grandparents. He will live on forever in his family's and friends hearts. Never Forgotten!!! There will be an account made for anyone who would like to donate to help with his family's arrangement cost. It will be at Emerald coast Federal Credit Union in Eastpoint, FL. You can start donating the week after Christmas for all those who want to help. There will also be a celebration of life held for him on Jan. 4th the time and place will be posted after Christmas at all Franklin County post offices and on Facebook.
