William (Billy) Eugene Toy

William (Billy) Eugene Toy, age 56 of Tallahassee FL, passed away July 9th following a brief illness. A proud United States Marine with service in Japan, England, and the USA, he lived the motto of Semper Fi: Always Faithful. Following his 10 years of honorable service, Billy left the Marine Corps as a Sergeant and went to work as a federal corrections officer. He then worked his way through college at Florida State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminology. Following graduation, he worked for the state of Florida until he retired in 2012. After dating for five years, Billy and his wife, Carrie Ann, married May 1, 1999. Their life together includes a shared love for Jesus Christ, family, and friends. Billy is the proud father of three children, Arron John Toy (Lauren); Kyla Ann Toy; and Alena Marie Toy, and is the proud grandfather of his beautiful grandson, Ivor Benny Toy. He is proceeded in death by his father William Robert Toy and his brother Robert Wayne Toy. Surviving family members include his sister Katherine Bass (Steven), brother Jimmy Toy, step-mother Shirley Toy, mother Georgia Ann Storey, step-mother Norma Jean Toy, father and mother-in-law Vincent and Barbara Horrigan, brother and sister-in-law Sean and Lynn Horrigan, and beloved nieces, Marissa Bass, Meghan Horrigan, and Aydan Horrigan. Billy will be remembered as a faithful Christian, devoted husband and father, and skilled craftsman who has accomplished numerous home renovation projects with a professional touch. He had a great love of fishing and shared that passion with his children, nieces, and the children of many friends. If it was your first-time fishing with Billy, you know the tradition was always to “kiss the fish” before throwing it back in. Always armed with a wonderful sense of humor, he brought a smile to all who knew him and would give the shirt off his back to complete strangers. He had a special place in his heart for disabled veterans suffering from the effects of war, especially PTSD. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road.
