Wynelle Harvey "Poochie" Wiginton

Wynelle Harvey Wiginton “Poochie” was a lifelong resident of Crawfordville, born in Crawfordville on Nov. 18, 1927 and passed away in her home of 53 years on Feb. 10, 2015 at the age of 87. She was the daughter of LeRoy Harvey Sr. and Naomi Raker Harvey. During her life she worked for the Wakulla County School Board as a secretary for 38 years under numerous principals and the change from Crawfordville High School to Crawfordville Elementary School. Prior to her employment, she attended and graduated from Crawfordville High School and was the captain of the girls basketball team. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her biggest enjoyments were going out to eat, just riding around the county and going to the Wakulla County Senior Citizens a couple of times per week. She was predeceased by her father, LeRoy Harvey Sr.; mother, Naomi Harvey; brothers, LeRoy Harvey Jr., Walton Harvey, and Fulton Harvey; and adopted daughter, Susan Tucker Peterson. During her life she was blessed with two amazing men who preceded her in death, Aaron Wiginton, her husband of 46 years; and her companion of 23 years, Owen Council. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Wiginton Denmon of Crawfordville, son-in-law, Rusty Denmon, grandson and her heart, Aaron Bonds. Other survivors include, Carol Wilson Horelick, family friend and caregiver during her illness, children she considered her own, Kathy Baily Cleveland, Beverly Council, Judy Duprey, Laura Rocco, Jaimiean Izumi Harrison, Karen Izumi, Chrisi Peterson, Teresa Peterson, Kevin Hurley, and Alyssa DeLong. She is also survived by son Richard Wiginton (Alice) and two other grandchildren, Zach Wiginton (Jessica) and Nikki Whitney (Scott). A brother, Ellsworth Harvey. To all who knew her, she was known for her warm smile, her quiet demeanor. her classiness as a lady – a true Steel Magnolia, her cute little giggle and her enormous ability to love others unconditionally. As a young person, she loved to go square dancing and jitterbug, enjoyed family get-togethers in Florida and Mississippi and attending church socials. Throughout her entire life, she loved children and always went out of her way to make sure each child she encountered felt loved and cared for. She would take anyone in if she could, and often did – loving them as her own. She will be deeply missed by all who met or knew her and after two months of battling cancer, we rejoice that she is now cancer-free and resting in the arms of Jesus. A visitation will be held at Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel in Crawfordville on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 803 Crawfordville Hwy. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at 3 p.m. Family will receive visits from friends and family anytime at her home at 134 Fulton Harvey Road in Crawfordville.
