Asa Lamor Reeves died peacefully at his home surrounded by family May 10, 2022. He was born September 23, 1938 in Tallahassee to Emmett and Lillian Reeves. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Lavonia Gray Reeves, son Eric Reeves (Cynthia), grandson Christopher Reeves (Emily), two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Alexia Reeves, and Papa Ace to Kayla Taylor McClellan, sister Sandra Reeves Skinner and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Evelyn Reeves Swearingen and brother Wilson Reeves. Asa was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather (Pawpaw), and a friend to all that knew him. He worked as a police officer for Florida State University for eight years and after more than 30 years, he retired in 1996 from the City of Tallahassee as a firefighter and the best painter in town. Asa was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church and selflessly served his church all of his adult life, laying up his treasures in Heaven. He never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone at any time. The term, to “give you the shirt off his back’ was coined after Asa Reeves. He will be truly missed. The family will receive friends, Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 2: 00 PM until 4:00 PM, at Bevis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held, Monday, May 16 at 11:00 AM also at Bevis Funeral Home, interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
